On March 12, 2026, a severe storm system moved through the Southeastern United States, producing multiple tornadoes, heavy rainfall, and damaging winds that caused widespread power outages, property damage, and hazardous conditions across several states as emergency crews responded and residents sought shelter from the dangerous weather. Multiple cities in Georgia had tornado watches and warning early on int he day such as Valdosta, Douglas, Savannah, Statesboro, Dublin, and more. The storm system swept across South Carolina much later causing tornado warnings and watches in Moncks Corner, Charleston, Myrtle Beach, and many others.

Now, only four days later, another powerful storm system is expected to bring severe weather to much of the southeastern United States on March 3, 2026, with forecasters warning of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds, heavy rain, and isolated tornadoes. The storms are expected to develop as a strong cold front moves eastward across the region, creating unstable atmospheric conditions. Areas from the Gulf Coast through Georgia and the Carolinas could see the most intense storms during the morning and afternoon hours.
Meteorologists say the primary threats will include strong wind gusts, large hail, and possible tornadoes embedded within a fast-moving line of thunderstorms. Some forecasts indicate wind gusts could exceed 60 miles per hour in the strongest storms, potentially causing downed trees and localized power outages. In parts of the Southeast, storms may begin early in the morning and continue through the day as the cold front sweeps toward the Atlantic coast.
Officials are urging residents across the region to stay alert for weather warnings and have multiple ways to receive alerts if conditions worsen. The same storm system is part of a broader nationwide weather event affecting millions of people, with severe storms in the South and heavy snow and blizzard conditions occurring in the Midwest. As the system continues moving east, travel disruptions and localized damage may occur before conditions improve later in the week.
March 16, 2026: Currently in Valdosta GA there is a tornado warning that started around 9:57 am. As predicted by meteorologists many cities are experiencing a freeze immediately after the storm. Leesburg GA and Myrtle Beach SC are currently under Freeze Warning while Fayetteville TN is under a Winter Weather Advisory.
