Who is Chris Williams?

 

Christopher Leigh Williams was born on October 19, 1983 in New York City. He has a B.S. in Physics at Stanford University and a Ph.D in Physics at MIT. He served as a clinical physicist and researcher before joining NASA. He was assigned to Soyuz MS‑28. It launches November 27, 2025, where he’ll spend about eight months aboard the ISS as part of Expedition 74. His specific mission includes scientific investigations, technology demonstrations, and long‑duration operations typical of NASA’s ISS program. 

 

What is Soyuz MS-28?

 

Soyuz MS-28 is a Russian crewed spacecraft mission. It launches from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. It will carry two Roscosmos cosmonauts and one NASA astronaut (Chris Williams) to the International Space Station for an eight‑month stay as part of Expeditions 73 and 74.

 

-Launch Date & Time: November 27, 2025, at 09:27 UTC (4:27 a.m. EST). 

-Launch Vehicle: Soyuz‑2.1a rocket

-Docking: Automated docking with the ISS Rassvet module at 12:38 UTC, about three hours after liftoff

 

What is Expedition 74?

 

Expedition 74 is a long-duration mission aboard the ISS that is scheduled to run from August 2025 through early 2026. It is the 74th crew rotation, with astronauts and cosmonauts conducting science, maintenance, and technology demonstrations in orbit.
